RTO Grant SchemeDo you have any ideas on how to get more tenants involved in your community? Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are now available from Communities Scotland for registered tenants groups. Grants will be awarded for projects that encourage, improve and develop tenant participation and help tenants have a greater influence on housing and related services. Who Can Apply for a Grant? All associations and Federations that are registered with their landlord as a 'Registered Tenants Organisation' Two or more associations can even work together on a project and put in a joint application. What if our Association is not registered? Grant funding will be available over a two year period so your association will still be able to apply for a grant if you start the registration process as soon as possible. Please contact Mark or Alicia at the Federation office to find out how to proceed. What types of projects will qualify for a grant? Communities Scotland is looking for grant applications that are innovative or new to your area, and replicable so that other groups in Scotland can use your idea. Communities Scotland say that applications will be particularly welcome for projects that involve traditionally excluded groups. Federation Laptops and ComputersThe Federation has purchased a laptop through a grant from Communities Scotland. The Development Officer is keen to give time to the Associations and individual tenants to help them feel comfortable with this means of communication. The Development Officer would be available to visit AGMs, Open Meetings and Committee meetings to demonstrate what is now on the website and what might be developed to benefit Associations. We are hoping that each Association will have their own page on the web whereby they are able to give an update on forthcoming meetings, events and general information in their area. The Federation has a computer in the Office which allows tenants to come in to learn to use the Internet or Microsoft word. The Development Officer and the Administration Officer are available by appointment. Watch this space for more details!! Work in ProgressThe remit of the Antisocial Behaviour Working Group is to take forward concerns about addressing Antisocial Behaviour and to use the current legislation to address issues raised. The group is currently in the process of identifying those whom we need to influence. We are looking at statistical evidence and best practice in Perth & Kinross and other areas. The Information, Media and Publicity Sub Group reviewed the Information, Media and Publicity Group (IMP) in March 2007. The IMP is a special Sub Group that is responsible for raising awareness of the Federation through the flow of information, production of publicity material and by releasing press releases to the media. The Federation have been involved in joint working groups between tenants and Perth and Kinross Council staff representatives. Some of the activities the working groups have been involved with include;
In addition we regularly review the Consultation Plan which agrees the level of involvement the Federation wishes to have in developing policy and service delivery. |
