Perth City Tenants & Residents Association
The City Centre Tenants' and Residents' Association was formed in September 2002. Prior to that the Association, in accordance with its
Constitution, looked after the interests of tenants only, but in September 2002 we agreed to bring residents into the scope
of our responsibilities. This was because it was felt that a number of issues affected residents, such as owner occupiers, as well as
tenants. With a very high concentration of flats in the City Centre, owner occupiers are often affected by certain issues, and by the decisions
which the Council makes. Issues which we have dealt with include caretaker's duties in Pomarium and Market Street flats, residents' parking
in the same complexes, and more general issues such as dog fouling, maintaining the environment, security doors, and tenants' problems
with the Council - such as repairs.
The Committee consists of seven members, with an appointed Secretary and Treasurer, both of whom were elected at our last AGM. We
meet six times a year, as well as our two open meetings. The two open meetings are held in spring and autumn each year, the second being
our AGM at which our new Committee is elected. The Committee strive to do their best for all those residing in the City Centre, and at the
same time remembering that the City Centre is the one area in Perth which is used by all those living in Perth and beyond, and not
forgetting visitors. What we do is looked at as being for the benefit of all.
