Kinross-shire Residents Association
Herewith the ethos of our association.
After national government deemed in the interests of local democracy a greater say by tenants and residents of the various areas of Britain, our group was formed initially under the wings of representatives from Kinross and Milnathort. The committees which included myself as Secretary of one group, there were originally two until a recent amalgamation, saw that such an organisation as a Tenants and Residents Association could be both an advisory group and pressure group to our local council as there is a need for such. The fact that a group comes together and voices concerns will always be better than individuals going to say, their councillor. Under the scheme our local group pressured for the installation of new double glazed windows and new safety doors, both of which we got some years ago. The group has regular meetings and the issues that effect locals can be voiced and proposals made to bring them to the attention of local government. Some of these issues are important from a national perspective as they include issues like road maintenance and provision of public transport facilities and improvement of existing public transport and such issues can have a bearing on tourism. The group tries to promote good neighborliness and a sense of belonging to an organization that has the well being of residents at heart.
Our meetings are friendly and informative because we invite a representative with expertise from a national body or local authority gives a talk on some subject and refreshment is provided.
